"You Gotta Get Up and Try, Try, Try"

Well gang, this week hasn't been half bad. I ate lots of ice cream, lots of guacamole, and lots of zucchini. We did some service, taught some lessons, and spent lots of time awkwardly walking neighborhood paths, whispering to each other when human life approached. Yes, we are very creepy. Ha! I pet the cutest baby pit bull ever. When people have puppies, it's much easier to naturally have convos with them. This week Trinity and Betty Jo had us put contact paper in their kitchen cabinets, which included pulling up the paper that had been down for probably 20 years. To say the least, it was quite the frustrating project. Lots of stickiness and dirt and grunts. And lots of air bubbles because, if you know me, any sort of thing that takes precision and neatness is not my forte. They also told us about this "super yummy place in Albuquerque with the best chicken sandwiches called chicky-fee-la." Oh man, that was a good laugh. If you didn't catch that, I think the name they were looking for was "Chick Fil A." We had a pretty sad service project this week, helping a guy clean out his mom's house because she had just passed away. It broke my heart to see how sad and overwhelmed he was. We went through all her kitchen stuff, and I found some lovely expired food from 2012. (Ahh throw back to 7th grade.) Anyway, he was one of the nicest, most humble, people ever. He gave me this super cool elephant statue. So basically, I will look like a mad woman at any transfer site with my wooden elephant, walking stick, and lots of Native American jewelry. The stuff you collect as a missionary, haha. This week we also went to one of our member's daughter's farm. It was so cool. It made me wanna live like that, haha. We toured the farm and fed some chickens, collected some eggs, smacked my head on the chicken coop, talked about goat castration (fun stuff), checked out her garden, and fed the goats their favorite treat: animal crackers. She sent us home with some eggs, which I'm super excited about. Seeing all these people creating lives where they can provide themselves with their own food kinda makes me wanna do it. But, I also have a very hard time picturing myself having the stomach for it. Also, ok the other day I killed a centipede! In our apartment! It terrified me. Seriously I think my body was in a state of panic for at least 20 minutes afterward. Hermana Babcock was in the shower, so I had to experience it all alone. Every week I'm here, I learn more and more about myself, and just about life in general. Not gonna lie, some of the change and growing is super uncomfortable. Sometimes it's hard to look at yourself and realize there are things you are doing or thinking or saying that are holding you back from being the best disciple of Christ you can be. What's even harder is stopping those things. But I know as we all strive to become more like Christ, Heavenly Father will recognize our little efforts and little changes. All He asks is that we get up and TRY (and shout out to Pink for her song lyric title this week). I know there is still so much for me to learn about being a missionary, and I won't ever be perfect at it, but I feel blessed for all the new things I learn everyday. Each day there is something that shows me I can be better, but I'm honestly thankful for those moments. It's just another opportunity for me to be of more help to people. Some days it's really hard, but I go to bed each night grateful for this choice I made and grateful I can wake up to a new day and TRY to be a little harder to be a little better. I love my Savior so much and I'm so grateful that because of him I can repent every single day and the mistakes I make don't have to stick with me. I love being able to share that with other people. Don't forget that Jesus loves you, Sister Wallace 1. Went to a cereal place with the elders for lunch lol I got a banana split cause I'm allergic to most cereals
