*My song lyric title from David Archuleta seem to fit perfectly as I think about this being my last post as a missionary ... As do these scripture verses ...
"For god hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
"Therefore, I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."
"Blessed are all the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God"
"Blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name's sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
"How oft would I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings."
"Come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me."
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the father hath given me."
I love these scripture passages so much.
I think one of the most valuable things I have learned on my mission is that the scriptures are written just for us and bring peace and comfort when the world has no comfort to offer.
"But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself."
"Fear not, little flock"
There's a lot of unknown and uncertainty that comes with being a human in this mortal experience. But when we take a step back, we can recognize that our eternal destiny can be certain.
It's funny how anywhere you go can become like home.
Home means Nevada because thats where I grew up.
Home means Utah because thats where my family is.
And now, home means Albuquerque because this is where I found Jesus.
Ultimately, I know that my true home is with my Heavenly Parents one day, where satan will be bound and I will have everlasting, endless, eternal, joy.
In high school, I wrote a speech that included this quote from the book The Boy, the Mole, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse, where the boy and the mole are looking out at a great expanse of wilderness -
"what's that over there?" -the boy
"it's the wild," said the mole, "don't fear it."
"imagine how we would be if we were less afraid"
Once again in my life, I realize I'm staring into the wilderness. (and I think there will be many more times when I feel this way) despite the feelings of worry and fear, I know that the Lord has a plan for me. He has blessed my life so much in these past 18 months, how could I doubt that he wouldn't do it again?
That's the beauty of it all; the blessings of the Lord are endless.
Don't EVER forget that Jesus loves you,
Sister Wallace
