This week must have been an exhausting whirlwind because I honestly don't know what actually happened here lol. I was in a different area 3 days of the week for exchanges, so I mostly was teaching people I don't know. Also, we are starting a new transfer this week, and so much has changed throughout our mission. Thankfully, Sister Larsen and I are staying together, which makes me so happy! But so many missionaries are being transferred to different areas and a lot of the zones are being broken up to create additional zones. For example, as STLs (sister training leaders), we have been over 2 zones of missionaries. Well, with these changes, those 2 zones are now going to be 3 zones, and there are 2 new sets of STLs who are responsible for each of those zones. We are going to miss the sisters we have worked with, but know these changes bring new opportunities for growth. I'm not sure if I've talked about this before, but there's actually a Swahili branch in Albuquerque because we have a lot of refuges who live here. Some of our sisters are assigned there and teach the people in Swahili. I got to go there on Saturday and honestly, it's such a different kind of area. It was so cool to see my companion for the day speaking a different language and interacting with such wonderful people. All day I was around humble, happy, and bright people. They were just full of love and grateful to be taught about Jesus!
One of the coolest things is one of the people they're teaching actually speaks a different language and only knows limited Swahili. The Book of Mormon hasn't fully been translated in his language, but half of it has. Just for him, our mission printed out the half of the Book of Mormon that is in his language, and put it in a binder. Every time the sisters come over, he comes into the room with a big smile and binder in hand. He LOVES the Book of Mormon, and I think it's so cool to see that God really does want to reach all of his children. People who probably never would've found the gospel can now because of how much missionary work is moving forward. We can do more now than ever before, and I think it's so cool. I feel humbled everyday to be a part of it. I love seeing how much the Book of Mormon changes lives. One of my favorite people we teach is a guy named James. He's a pretty unique guy haha, and has had a whole lot of struggles in life. When his wife passed away (she was a member), he promised her he'd go to church every week. Well, he has kept that promise. He also has been reading the Book of Mormon with the missionaries for 2 years now and is finally close to almost finishing. Even just in the short time I've been here, I've seen this book completely transform his life. He used to just read it with us just to read it, but now he asks questions and adds insight and points out the spirit that he feels. Then another one of our friends, Alicia, actually doesn't have a leg because it had to be amputated after a terrible accident. We've taught her a few times, and she's read a bit of the Book of Mormon. The other day, she was talking about how she has really bad phantom pain in her leg, but when she was reading the Book of Mormon, it went away. This seems like such a tender mercy granted to one of God's daughters as she learned more about Him. My testimony of the Book of Mormon has grown so much on my mission. I've seen it change the lives of those I teach as they sincerely read it and allow it to touch their hearts. I've never read the same book every single day in my life until this point, and I really don't want that to change. The Book of Mormon really is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know so much more about my Savior through reading the Book of Mormon, and I couldn't be more grateful for the power it has brought into my life. Don't forget that Jesus loves you, Sister Wallace Pics:
