How is it already Monday again?! It was another awesome week, but it was pretty tiring. So I'm very happy to have today to just relax and take some time to have fun and talk with fam and friends. Last Monday was super fun. Our STLs (sister training leaders) were in El Paso, and they are the only other sisters in the zone, so we were pretty worried we would be pretty bored without them on pday. So on Sunday night when our district leader called, I got us invited to go on a hike with them. Haha. When we showed up, they had basically brought our whole district! It was way fun and so good to be outside and talk with people. After the hike we went to this place called The Paleta Bar, and I was in heaven (we may or may not have gone back 4 days later…)! Basically they dip Paletas (Mexican ice cream pops) in chocolate and then serve them with fresh fruit. And you know me and my ice cream! Last Tuesday was a wild day!! First of all, I locked our keys in the apartment. We were on our way to a dinner appointment and in the rush of things I just spaced it. But what's funny is a few days earlier I had imagined myself doing the exact same thing! But when I imagined it, I broke down on the floor crying afterwards. Luckily, I didn't do that. Haha. I just shook it off and let myself laugh about it. Luckily, we were easily able to get a spare key from the office and were only 15 minutes late for dinner! When we got out of dinner we had a missed call from President Weathersby and a text from him saying to have Sister Lathrop call him immediately. Well when president calls, it's always pretty nerve wracking. But turns out Sister Lathrop would be emergency transferred and had to be in her new area the very next day!! You can never get too comfortable in missionary life cause God can change things up on you just like that. I'm super happy for Sister Lathrop. I think it will be really good for her and she was excited about the change. Trios are hard and it was time for a switch. We dropped Lathrop off Wednesday afternoon and it was a super rainy day, which I loved. Desert rain is the BEST. Honestly, me and Clayton had such a fun day together. After we dropped Lathrop off we went to Chick Fil A (of course, since we happened to be out of our zone) and drove home on route 66!! It was so fun and so cute to see, especially in the rain. There are so many fun street names in Albuquerque that we kept pointing out too. We were pretty much laughing and smiling all day long running around in the rain. Then on top of that we got to go to the Williams for our weekly dinner! So basically, best day in the mission. Me and Clayton are gonna have a great month together, I can feel it. I love her. We got our first vaccine on Thursday!! That was a cool moment. It definitely hurt my arm the next day and made us super tired. So the rest of the week kinda dragged from our vaccine hangovers. But we still tried to make the best of it!! We had to wait after for 30 minutes after getting the vaccine because of all my allergies, though, just to make sure I didn't die. Lol! They were so nice and even gave us this giant bag of food, which happened to have a giant peanut butter jar. Being a missionary has its perks even if it involves peanut butter that you can't eat. Haha! I got to extend my first invitation to be baptized this week! We have been teaching this woman named Laurin, who I just adore. She is so sweet and humble, and you can tell she wants to learn more and really wants to become a better person. She was really sweet and said both yes and no to my invitation. She said that before she gets baptized she feels that she needs to do more now to show God she wants to follow Christ. I loved this answer! It was so real and honest, and really helped us understand what she needs. From there, we were able to discover that she has been struggling to pray, so we talked her through it, giving examples from our own lives of what helps us when our prayers feel like a struggle. Hopefully this week she will be able to work on praying and maybe take a few of our suggestions. I had a really cool experience yesterday. Sundays are typically my harder days since it's the last day of our week and has always the day that I spent with my family and play games and rest and relax. So it's weird being out on the mission and having so much work to do. I honestly woke up just praying I could get through the day. I felt physically and mentally exhausted (it was also Fast Sunday where we fast for 2 meals, with a purpose in mind, which is double challenging for me). But, I knew that we would have Sunday dinner with the Altons to look forward to so I told myself if I could just get to that, I could make it through the rest of the day. Well, during church Clayton showed me the phone and we had a text from Sister Alton telling us they had to cancel dinner. I hate that I felt this way, but it honestly made me so sad. I immediately started praying that I could refocus on my purpose here, and then I kinda selfishly prayed that someone from the ward (specifically the Rayas) would reach out to us and give us food. After I prayed, I felt better and was able to remember why I was fasting and why I'm on my mission. After church, we got in the car and guess who texted us… BROTHER RAYA!!! He said that we should come over and pick up a plate of food for lunch. When we got to his house, he said that earlier that morning he saw all the food in his fridge and we were on his mind. I have no doubt that the second after I prayed during church, the spirit impressed Brother Raya that the sister missionaries needed some extra love. In that moment, I was reminded of how aware God is of each of his children. He knows what we are going through and what we need. He even cares about little me, needing food from ward members on Fast Sunday. It felt a little silly saying that prayer and also a bit selfish, but God cares about those little prayers!! He cares about all the little moments, and little struggles, and little desires. He will show us countless tender mercies, but we have to be willing to look for them. So that's my challenge for you this week. Find the little tender mercies and answers from prayers Heavenly Father shows you. I love this work. I love Jesus christ. I love witnessing the literal gathering of Israel. I love all of you!!! Don't forget that Jesus loves you, Sister Wallace P.S. my favorite nephew is 6 months old today!!! I can hardly believe it.
